Job Description

FYR Diagnostics is seeking a Technician/Associate Scientist with molecular biology expertise to join our research and development team. This position will conduct research to support development of FYR’s multi-omics extracellular vesicle profiling technology. This team member will be using molecular biology and omics workflows including next-generation sequencing and proteomics as part of a diverse group of researchers, software engineers, and data scientists. FYR diagnostics is committed to developing the next generation of liquid biopsies to improve patient care and push the boundaries of precision medicine.

Key Responsibilities

  • Experimental planning, execution, analysis, documentation and troubleshooting to support company goals and objectives.
  • Generate and advance novel ideas to improve existing workflows, expand capabilities, and create new technologies.
  • Develop and maintain SOPs.
  • Record, process, and analyze experimental data in a LIS/ELN system.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of QC/QA systems for assays, procedures, workflows, and instrumentation.
  • Become an expert on use, maintenance, and new developments related to critical instruments in the laboratory.
  • Work collaboratively with other technicians, scientists, and data scientists to develop creative ideas and troubleshoot experiments.
  • Compile and present key scientific findings and reports for internal or external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Graduate degree in the biological or biomedical sciences, such as molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with molecular biology wet lab techniques including nucleic acid and/or protein isolation, manipulation, characterization, and quantitation.
  • Ability to lead or aid in experimental planning, execution, troubleshooting, data analysis, and interpretation.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience or interest in multi-omic workflows and data analysis.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience handling and processing biological specimens (e.g., blood, plasma, serum, CSF, tissue).
  • Experience working with extracellular vesicles and cell-free nucleic acids.
  • Experience using automated liquid handling systems.
  • Experience working with LIMS/ELN systems.
  • Experience with bioinformatics and computational biology.
